    REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  September 14th


    PURPOSE: 

    The 2010 State Agency Wellness Conference: Investing in Health will provide attendees with knowledge, skills and tools to effectively implement the evidence-based strategies of the Building Healthy Texans (BHT) Model Wellness Program.  Additionally, participants will learn about provisions for worksite wellness in state policy and wellness benefits already available to state employees through the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) administered by the Employees Retirement System of Texas.  This conference will bring together wellness planners from diverse state agencies to learn and network about health promotion principles, resources, and best practices. 


    CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES:

    Conference Attendees will:

    1. Understand the health impact of each priority objective of the BHT Model Wellness Program and why each one is important to address,

    2. Know key behavior change principles and barriers related to making healthy changes, 

    3. Be able to access and utilize resources available through the Employees Group Benefits Plan and EAP Service Providers to support their agency wellness programs,policies and initiatives,

    4. Be able to implement policy and environmental changes to support the priority objectives of the BHT Model Wellness Program.

    WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

    State agency leaders, human resources staff, benefit coordinators, wellness liaisons, wellness planners, wellness committee members, and any other state employees involved with or interested in starting wellness activities in their agency.

    Alzheimer's Disease State Plan Partnership Meeting:  Implementation Kick-Off

    It’s time to begin Phase II of our Alzheimer’s Disease State Plan process with a kick-off meeting to be held September 22, 2010 in Austin, Texas.  This phase moves us from plan development to plan implementation, where we craft our road map of activities for achieving our objectives and goals.  This part of the planning process is essential partnership activity and we encourage all partners to attend!
