    The 2014 State Agency Wellness Conference will provide attendees with knowledge, skills and tools to effectively implement the evidence-based strategies of the Texas State Agency Model Wellness Program. Additionally, participants will learn essential health promotion and behavior change principles.  Conference sessions will discuss provisions for worksite wellness in state policy, resources and services provided by state and community agencies, and wellness resources already available to state employees through the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) administered by the Employees Retirement System of Texas. This conference will bring together wellness planners from diverse state agencies to learn and network about health promotion principles, resources, and best practices. 

     

     

    Objectives

    Conference attendees will:

    1. Discover guidance and resources for implementing the evidence-based strategies of the Texas Model Wellness Program

    2. Understand the health impact of each priority objective of the Model Wellness Program and why each one is important to address

    3. Increase their knowledge, skills and ability to implement policy and environmental changes that support healthy behavior change in their agency employees

    4. Know how to access and utilize wellness related programs and resources through the Employees Group Benefits Insurance Plans, Employee Assistance Program providers and community organizations.

    State agency leaders, human resources staff, benefit coordinators, wellness liaisons, wellness planners, wellness committee members, and any other state employees involved with or interested in starting wellness activities in their agency.

    Join us for the 60th Annual Texas Vital Statistics Annual Conference at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin, Texas.  This three-day conference takes place on December 10–12, 2014, and is co-sponsored by the Texas Public Health Association.


    This year’s annual conference theme, “Protect and Secure: Defending Vital Records Through Innovative Methods,” focuses on Texas’s commitment to ensure the protection and security of our vital records. With identity theft a growing concern throughout the nation and vital documents more valuable than ever in establishing identity, Texas strives to develop innovative methods that will ensure the protection and strengthen the security of birth and death records. Join us in our discussion of security and their relationship to vital records, Rider 72 initiatives, and the proposed TxEVER system.


    Purpose: To provide a collaborative learning opportunity between members of the vital statistics registration system to improve communication, increase connections, and strengthen partnerships.


    Registration fee for conference attendee:  $200 and must be paid in full before November 1, 2014.  If paying AFTER November 1st the fee is $225. 


    Luncheon tickets may be purchased for guest of registrants (must have at least one person registered for the conference) for $60.
