Please mark your calendars for the 2019 State Agency Wellness Conference – Working Well in Texas. The conference will be held on Thursday, September 5 in Austin, TX on the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in the Commons Learning Center, from 9 am to 5 pm.

All state agency wellness liaisons, coordinators and wellness committee members are encouraged to attend!

Who:        State agency leaders, human resources staff, benefit coordinators, wellness liaisons, wellness planners, wellness committee members and any other state employees involved with or interested in starting wellness activities in their agency.

Why:         To learn, discuss, and network regarding increasing worksite wellness among state agencies.

Cost:         $95 per person

                Please note: Payment of registration is due prior to the event. POs are accepted but the registrant must send the system generated invoice to their agency for payment and payment must be received by TPHA prior to September 5.

Description

The 2019 State Agency Wellness Conference will provide attendees with knowledge, skills and tools to effectively implement the evidence-based strategies of the Texas State Agency Model Wellness Program. Additionally, participants will learn essential health promotion and behavior change principles. Conference sessions will discuss provisions for worksite wellness in state policy, resources and services provided by state and community agencies, and wellness resources already available to state employees through the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) administered by the Employees Retirement System of Texas. This conference will bring together wellness planners from diverse state agencies to learn and network about health promotion principles, resources, and best practices.  

Objectives:

Conference attendees will:

1.   Discover guidance and resources for implementing the evidence-based strategies of the Texas Model Wellness Program

2. Understand the health impact of each priority objective of the Model Wellness Program and why each one is important to address

3. Increase their knowledge, skills and ability to implement policy and environmental changes that support healthy behavior change in their agency employees

4. Know how to access and utilize wellness related programs and resources through the Employees Group Benefits Insurance Plans, Employee Assistance Program providers and community organizations.

10:00 – 11:00     Concurrent Session 1 (2-3 sessions, ~45 min)              

11:00 – 12:00     Concurrent Session 2 (2-3 sessions ~45 min)               

12:00 – 1:30      Networking Lunch in the Atrium

1:30 – 2:30        Concurrent Session 3 (2-3 sessions ~45 min)       

2:30 – 3:30        Concurrent Session 4 (2-3 sessions ~45 min)

3:30 – 4:30        Wrap Up, Farewell and Networking

Exhibit Space is also available.  

The exhibit fee covers space for your organization to host a display to highlight products and services that relate to one of the six objectives of the Work Well Texas (WWT) State Agency Wellness Program. Exhibit space is available on a first-come basis. 

Sponsorship payment must be received by Friday, August 23; however, the sooner we receive your sponsor/exhibitor registration, the sooner we can recognize your organization when promoting the conference. Based on previous years, we expect sponsorships and exhibit space to fill quickly!
