The TPHJournal
The Quarterly Publication of the Texas Public Health Association is recognized by the National Library of Congress and has been assigned 
Print ISSN:  2574-5859 and Electronic ISSN: 2574-5840
All issues are included with your annual TPHA membership.  Our journal is now available in an electronic format only and available online to our members.

 Our TPHA Journal is also listed with the EBSCO index as a peer-reviewed journal
The TPHJ is not yet indexed in PubMed but we are working on it.  In the meantime, authors of published papers may contact PubMed to find out if their manuscripts can be submitted for indexing.

Texas Public Health Journal Goals   

  • Publish peer-reviewed articles of original scientific research related to public health topics:
    • Of interest to the Texas public health community,
    • Applicable to public health practice in Texas.
  • Provide supplemental information on current public health practice through;
    • Public Health Short Briefs,
    • Commentaries.
  • Feature public health related articles:
    • With a historical edge,
    • Current Poison Control information,
    • Short papers on other public health "hot topics".
  • Provide timely information or reviews on public health related materials available such as:
    • Books,
    • Software.
  • Annually celebrate National Public Health Week by publishing select papers detailing community health projects.

Our quarterly publication is typically released as follows: Winter, Issue 1 released in January; Spring, Issue 2 released in April (generally coincides with National Public Health Week); Summer,  Issue 3 released in July;  Fall, Issue 4 released in October

The TPHA Newsletter

TPHA News is the quarterly newsletter of the Texas Public Health Association bringing our members association news and giving them an opportunity to network and share their news from around the state!! Our newsletter is produced  in alternating months from the journal and sent to members typically in late February, May, August, and November. You must be a member to s? Consider joining us! Our membership rates are super low!

Attention ALL Members
 Time to sound off and share your news with your fellow TPHA members! Here are some examples of items we hope you will tell us about so we can share it with your colleagues:


  • Announce a special program your agency is starting.
  • Announce projects or programs recruiting participants.
  • Recognize a co-worker.
  • Announce your promotion.
  • Announce your new certification, license or publication.
  • Announce new health department accreditations or re-accreditations.
  • Announce meetings or conferences in your area you think members may be interested in.
  • Announce a new podcast or webinar you think other members would want to attend.

    Please use the following format to send us your news:
    From [Your name and TPHA section]
    [Your news item in 150 words or less, including any contact information if appropriate]

  • Announce job opportunities.

Please use the following format and we will also post under “Resources” on our website:
[Name of Public Health Entity] invites applicants for the position of [xyz].
2-3 sentences describing position
